To Dream the Impossible Dream

I have always wanted to live in the mountains,
although I am originally from Wisconsin.
After spending too many years living near Chicago,
a land where everything is paved or plowed,
I finally became free to follow my dreams.

Between July 14, 2000 to August 14, 2002, I hiked the entire Pacific Crest Trail, John Muir Trail, and Appalachian Trail. In July and August of 2003, I thru hiked the Colorado Trail. I wrote the online guide to the Bartram Trail in Georgia and N.Carolina that year as well, after hiking it extensively. I continued my quest for the Triple Crown in 2004 when I hiked south from the Canadian Border, through Glacier National Park, the Bob Marshall Wilderness, and the Scapegoat Wilderness. In 2005 I completed the Foothills Trail, and in 2007 I hiked a portion of the Long Trail in Vermont.

I enjoy the wilderness, backpacking, and innovation.
I am not good at spectator sports, but prefer to experience life firsthand, teaching outdoor skills and inspiring others to follow their dreams. You can read more on my blogs: The Female Survivalist and BrawnyView . Books by Carol Wellman at Barnes and Nobel for downloading to Nook.

March 30, 2003 my book My Journey to Freedom and Ultralight Backpacking was published by Fire Creek Pass. It is about my journey to personal freedom, adventures on the PCT, JMT, and AT, and ultralight backpacking. This summer it was made available at My Journey at Amazon.com in E-Book format. You don't need a Kindle to purchase e-books. There is a free download for PCs. Other e-books I've written:
